Education Boothbay partners with Moore Music Legacy
Education Boothbay, formerly known as the Boothbay Region Education Foundation, is pleased to announce it has partnered with the Moore Music Legacy to establish the Moore Music Legacy fund. The Moore family established the Moore Music Legacy to honor Jay and Doug Moore by promoting a life long love of music for children in the Boothbay region. Education Boothbay is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation that supports the faculty and students at Southport Central, Edgecomb Eddy, Boothbay Region Elementary School and Boothbay Region High School.
After providing nearly $30,000 in support of music lessons and camps, the Moore Music Legacy board of directors determined that working through Education Boothbay would have a broader impact and contributed the balance of its funds to establish the Moore Music Legacy fund within Education Boothbay. The funds will be used to continue to support a life long love of music and the performing arts for children at the schools supported by Education Boothbay.
The Moore Music Legacy funds are already being put to good use. Education Boothbay recently approved a $2,805 grant request submitted by Mary Miller, Boothbay Region High School’s music teacher. The funds will be used to off-set the royalty fees for the fall musical, “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” and the spring musical, “Newsies.” The Moore family is thrilled Jay and Doug’s love of music will be passed on through Education Boothbay’s Moore Music Legacy fund.
